F.A.QUPDATE: The Bloodpacts have arrived! All of the known Summoner Bloodpacts have been entered into the Renkei Chart, just like normal Weaponskills. Currently, they are listed under "Bloodpact" as a weapon type, and I am leaving it up to the Summoners to know which Bloodpact goes with which Avatar. The simple reason for this is that there isn't enough room to provide every Avatar with its own category, as some elemental areas have 2-3 Avatars. Furthermore, this chart is a reference, not a hand-holding walkthrough. If you have a Summoner in your party, check the listing for Bloodpacts. It's that simple. In fact, I personally find it more efficient than scanning every elemental group for all eight Avatar names.
I've also finally updated the names of the two ranged attack types to match their Weaponskill listing in the game. Surprisingly, no one had asked me about this, but I was bothered by it because it was not as easy to discern which category Crossbows would fall into. Obviously, some of the graphics have changed, and I am personally much happier with the new look. Some areas have been nudged around, but so far I am keeping the elemental groups in their current positions (that may change later on, I never know for certain). Evisceration has been relocated, as it was in the game. Really, the primary reason for such a sudden republish is the introduction of Bloodpacts, and that, combined with the redesigned graphics, warranted version 3.0.
Special thanks are in order for the following people:
Xatherine, who has coded a very smart Renkei Calculator.
Fast Cart, who actually took the time to test certain Great Katana Renkeis for me.
Tic and Mooky, who provided a great deal of data on the Bloodpacts.
Arturon, for catching a lot of the errors I fixed and then reproduced.
Tilanna, for providing a very similar service.
KT over at Summoner Info for not only running a great little site, but for making my research into Summoner Bloodpacts so much easier.
I also want to thank Mavi at Final Fantasy Vault, Frost at Warcry, James at Killing Ifrit, and the whole crew over at Mystery Tour for helping me promote the chart.
F.A.Q.
Who I Am: Apparently this is a popular question. For those of you that want to know, I play on the Seraph server along with the rest of the Mystic Knights. My character name there is Esparta. Stop and say hello. I'll even field simple Renkei questsions (provided I am not in the middle of a fight or otherwise occupied). But if you have a question about printing, or a potential error on the chart, please email me about it from this site instead.
Donations: A number of people have asked me how they make donations. This kind of caught me off guard, because I never conceived of accepting donations for making this chart. To be honest, the web traffic is plenty of thanks on its own. However, if some of you are hell-bent on donating to me, I'd feel wrong about taking your hard earned dollars. Your hard-earned Gil, however, I am more lenient about. ^^
A-B-C Notation: Some questions have been raised about the A-B-C lettering after some Weapon Skills. What these are are a priority check for the game. Allow me to explain. Sometimes, a particulat Weapon Skill "can" skillchain to more than one listing of the same Weapon Skill. A good example is Fast Blade (Earth) having a link to either Red Lotus Blade A (Fire) or Red Lotus Blade B (Wind). The game will always create the link to Red Lotus Blade A (Fire) when forced to choose between these two links. So you will always get a Fire effect. However, had the first attack been Keen Edge (Dark), there is no link to Red Lotus Blade A (Fire), but you can link to Red Lotus Blade B (Wind). Thus, you will create a Wind effect.
Level 3 Renkeis: There are still some people unhappy with the new way that I display the L3 Renkeis (in that they no longer show the links from the L1 Renkeis), and if you fall into this category, you're probably best off using a different Renkei Chart. Until I am able to design in three dimensions, this is the clearest way that I can visualize presenting this information. That being said, I have re-ordered the labeling on the L3 Renkei area to make it easier to read. I will admit that I had trouble reading it at a glance, as well. The L2 Renkei effects are now listed directly on the arrow, as they are everywhere else.
Weapon Skill Order: In each elemental group, the weapon skills are listed alphabetically. In the case of a two handed or "Great" weapon, that weapon is listed by the name of the weapon itself. In other words, Great Axes are under "A", Great Swords are under "S" and so on. The individual columns in each element group are simply a matter of formatting, and do not have any special significance as far as linking.
Printing Information: There are now two ways to pring this chart, and hopefully there is something for everyone here. The old-school JPG version will always be available for the faithful, but I am also publishing the chart as an Adobe Acrobat document. The benefit of this is that Adobe takes care of the sizing and the printing for you, and Acrobat Reader is not only quite free, but is already installed on most computers. For this reason, I have removed the complicated JPG printing waklthrough. If you know how to scale JPG images, great. If not, I heavily recommend getting the Adobe Acrobat version.
Know Issues: This category never seems to get any smaller. Funny how that works. I am confident that all of the current listings (besides Bloodpacts) have both their location and their A-B-C notation locked in. Currently none of the Bloodpacts have A-B-C listings, and in a way, I am quite grateful for this. I have had many tests done for likely or obvious A-B-C listsings, and so far they have all come up negative. However, I have not yet ruled out the possibility that there are a few out there. There is also an issue with the high level Blood Pacts (65 for Fenrir, 70 for the other 6 Avatars) not seeming to Renkei with anything. I highly suspect that they actually Renkei in the L2/L3 area, with whichever element they are associated with. Sadly, I have no confirmation at this time, but it would not be so hard to test for someone with the right friends and the right job leveled up. Firsthand reports are, as always, greatly appreciated.
